The diagram below is an attempt at reconciling several divergent sources on the relationship between the various Sámi languages and dialects. The extinct Kemi Sámi language is included because this is the only Eastern Sámi language that corresponds to a preserved drum type. The choice of which dialects to include is necessarily somewhat arbitrary.
